Stroll along its flower-decked canals and its cobbled streets, under the arcades, and explore the medieval ‘traboule’ walkways and hidden passages that are part of the old town’s charm. Medieval entrances (Porte Sainte Claire, Côte Perrière) still separate the old town from the rest of Annecy.

The Palais de l’Isle

When arriving via the lake, one of the first things to meet your eye is the Palais de l’Isle, also known as the Vieilles Prisons, which stands at the entrance to the old town. This building, constructed in the 12th century, was originally the lord’s manor house, later a law-court and then a prison. Today the Palais de l’Isle houses exhibitions on the architecture and heritage of Annecy, giving a good understanding of the town’s history.

Lake Annecy and its beaches

We ♥ Lake Annecy! Explore the cleanest lake in Europe on foot, by bicycle, in a pedalo, by boat, on inline skates, on a cruise, by doing water sports or on the beaches. Enjoy the Blue Flag beaches at Saint-Jorioz and the Plage de la Brune beach at Veyrier-du-Lac. Just below the villas, and only 5 minutes away on foot, you can bathe from the park-like shore of Les Marquisats. There is a lifeguard service in July and August from 10:00 to 19:00.

Water sports

For anybody who likes to get wet, Lake Annecy is a huge playground! Below the villas, the water sports centre at Les Marquisats has sailing, rowing and kayak clubs. You can also use a stand-up paddle board, or rent an electric boat or a pedalo. If you like something a bit faster, there are also water skiing, wakeboarding and wakesurfing! We can put you in touch with professionals for all your aquatic activities on the lake.

The mountains: Walks and hikes

The Alps are wonderful in summer and winter. Mount Semnoz has two main peaks, the Crêt de l’Aigle (1646m) and the Crêt de Chatillon (1699m). They give panoramic views over Lake Annecy, the mountains of the Bornes massif and the Bauges, and even Mont Blanc in clear weather. In the Aravis massif, you can explore the resorts of La Clusaz and Grand Bornand.

Museums

Every year, Annecy organises the International Animated Film Festival, allowing you, through the Museum of Cinema Animation, to enter the land of illusions. Discover the secrets of the mastery of light and the creation of movement… At a different location, the Château d’Annecy, a castle listed as a historic monument, houses a museum where you can find galleries with the following themes: The human history of the Alps, ancient and contemporary art, archaeology, natural history, animated film-making, plus temporary exhibitions and a concert hall.
